  4. There are many reasons why I made the decision to participate in this financial Literacy Institude but the most important ones are as follow:
    1. The need to understand better ways to increase and properly manage my finances.

    2. The need to learn a better way to get out of debt and stay out of debt.

    3. Learn effective ways to plan for retirement.

    1. A recent conversation with my co worker, made me realize that I don't have much knowledge on planning for retirement. That's also something I want to learn more about!

  5. The reason why I decided to participate was because of where I am in life. I just started living independently and I realized that my financial knowledge was low. I really hope to learn more about budgeting in all aspects: creating, maintaining, and balancing. I hope to understand taxes better, knowledge on building credit and reducing my debt.

The reasons I decided to join this class are:
    1) To learn how to budget and how to make budgeting sustaibanle
    2) To learn how to save and invest my income strategically
    3) To learn about basic money management because no one has ever explained this to me before and I hear pieces of information passed down from person to person and I do not know if this information is correct.

  10. Hello ladies, im very excited and looking forward to working with you all as a team. We all come from many different walks in life. However, we all share the same goal and that is to strive, to become debt free, to better manage our hard earned money. There are many more reasons but at the end of the day they all lead to a better quality of life. We can do this, just remember if is hard thats because is worth it. We got this!

  12. Hello everyone,
Sorry I'm so late but I still want to put in my two cents. The reasons why I decided to participate in the Financial Literacy Institute are
1 I feel I didn't get any financial help on anything in my whole life, and I feel I should have, I'm only 26 so I thought what a great opportunity
2 I have a small business of my own already and I want to learn how to make my money work for me instead of spending and not growing
3 I want to teach what I've learned to my daughter when the time is right

    1. Shacoya your never late. Its a great thing that at 26 you already have your own business. Im already proud of you. Im glad you decided to join the team. Wanting to teach your daughter all the knowledge your looking forward to learn from this journey is wonderful. My daughter is your age, shes a big spender and it did not ever cross my mind to pass it on to her. The best way to learn is from each other.

  16. Good Morning everyone, ok so let me start by making this statement. I am in this class to learn how to budget and keep track of my finances. I took the quiz , based on my answers I am a Money Avoider which makes total sense to me for interesting reasons described in the charactoers of Money avoider. Especially the math part. Pay Credit Card more than min balance not in my senior citizen life time. Maybe after this class I hope yes I can see a new door to open and pay more then min payment and get out of debt. Now on to Alison. Have a good day everyone.

    2. On the same boat as you Nancy. Money stresses me out, so I do try to not think about it a lot, and do tend to avoid that!

    3. Thank you Eileen, Laura, & Sarah along with the rest of our class together we will succeed. Thanks for your support.
Has anyone completed Module 1 in Alison?

      Delete
    4. Hello Nancy and fellow students. I completed module 1 and it turned out to be that Im a spender. Am I surprised ofcourse not. However, this module confirmed to me what I was denying for many years. Because I always managed to pay my bills, help others and still have a few dollars left I felt that I was good at budgeting. Hahaha! Gotta laugh at my self. Silly me. All I know is that I have alot of work to do. But with confidence and commitment I know you and I and the rest of the class will reach our goal.

  17. I wasn't expecting to be a Money Avoider, but after reading the description, that's pretty accurate. Future planning and saving is so daunting to me. Not knowing much about my money stresses me out, so my defense is just to ignore it or avoid it for as long as possible. Having the "tomorrow I will be more wiser" mentality has been my cop out. At least in this case, because I started taking this class, it will actually be true!

    1. Hello Sarah, you as well will have the strength to overcome every obstacle that crosses your path. You will achieve it and master it as time goes by. Money is needed to survive. It doesn't make you to the person that you are today and will continue to be.

    2. Hi Sarah! It's really easy to get to things "tomorrow" but the issue is tomorrow may be too late. What I noticed in my experiences is that it is lack of education that makes us procrastinators. We don't know the best first moves or where to start so we put things off. However, once we get educated and understand processes we are more excited/less afraid to get started and get a handle on things. Taking this class is a great first step to not being such a money avoider (which I tend to be a lot). Together we can break the cycle of "tomorrow" by getting educated!!

    3. I can appreciate that Shenice. We are making steps to getting our of the cycle of "tomorrow"!

  20. I'm a Money Monk and 2 responses away from an avoider. It makes so much sense to me. I really wish someone could just do all my finances and invest in a socially responsible company. Even the thought now typing this is overwhelming.

  22. The reason I decided to join this class is: (A) to learn to better manage my money, (B) to learn a better budget system than what I have, and (C) to increase my savings, pay down my debt and hopefully buy a house at some point.
